

Joe Mecane
NYSE Euronext
Executive Vice President and CAO, U.S. Markets
At NYSE Euronext, Mr. Mecane is responsible for U.S. market planning, analysis and project oversight.
Prior to joining NYSE, he was Managing Director in the Equities Division of the UBS Investment Bank, responsible for overseeing the Broker Services business. He joined UBS in November 2004, when the firm acquired Schwab Capital Markets, where he was a Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer and oversaw Schwab’s Broker-Dealer business. Prior to joining Schwab in 2003, Mr. Mecane held a number of positions at Knight Securities. Previously, he had worked in the Securities Industry Practice group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
In addition to serving as a Governor of the Security Traders Association, Mr. Mecane is also a member of its Trading Issues Committee. His activities in other organizations include serving on the Trading Issues Committees of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, the Security Traders Association of New York and the Wall Street Committee of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He earned his M.B.A. with honors from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Lawrence Leibowitz
NYSE Euronext
Head of US Markets & Global Technology
At NYSE Euronext, Mr. Leibowitz is responsible for business and product development for the U.S. cash markets. In addition, he will assume responsibility for NYSE Euronext’s ongoing equities trading platform integration initiative, the company’s global technology systems and development, and its U.S. options business.
Prior to joining NYSE Euronext, Mr. Leibowitz was most recently with UBS Americas Equities where he served as Chief Operating Officer. He joined UBS Americas Equities as a Managing Director in 2004 when the firm acquired Schwab Capital Markets. He was responsible for several areas including Market Structure, Strategic Planning, Business Analysis, Regulatory Control, and the Broker Services Functions for the Equities Division. At Schwab, he was Co-Head of Schwab Capital Markets.
Before joining Schwab in October 2001, Mr. Leibowitz co-founded Bunker Capital, a quantitative hedge fund, in 1996. He also served as CEO of REDIBook ECN and as Managing Director and Head of Program and Quantitative Trading at Credit Suisse First Boston.
In addition to chairing the Nasdaq Quality of Market Committee and serving on the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s (SIFMA) Market Structure Committee, Mr. Leibowitz has been a featured speaker at numerous industry forums related to market structure issues.
Mr. Leibowitz graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Economics.

Marybeth Shay
BIDS Trading, L.P.
Senior Managing Director, Sales and Marketing
Ms. Shay is responsible for spearheading the growth of BIDS Trading, with a focus on strategic business development. Ms. Shay also manages overall direction and day-to-day operation of the sales and marketing team.
Prior to joining BIDS Trading, Ms. Shay served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Boston Equities Exchange (BeX), where she was a member of the Board of Directors of the BSX Group, LLC. Ms. Shay was employed by the Boston Stock Exchange for thirteen years, overseeing business and product development, the Market Operations Center and the sales effort for the equity business of the Exchange. She has also worked at Colonial Mutual Funds, in both sales and management capacities.
Ms. Shay graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Arts.

Tim Mahoney
BIDS Trading, L.P.
Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mahoney is responsible for the strategic direction and growth of BIDS Trading, the alternative trading system (ATS) designed to increase competition and liquidity in the U.S. equity block trading market.
Mr. Mahoney has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry and global equities market.
Prior to joining BIDS Trading, Mr. Mahoney served as Head of Equity Trading for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers for seven years where he was responsible for a 14-person, 24-hour trading desk that traded over $100 billion in equities. Mr. Mahoney also worked in the firm’s Unit Investment Trust Department for 16 years, holding a number of positions, which included Head of Equity Trading and Chief Investment Officer. During his tenure at Merrill Lynch, Mr. Mahoney helped create the popular “Dogs of the Dow” series of investments. Mahoney began his career at Merrill Lynch in 1979 as a summer intern on the floor of the American Stock Exchange.
Mr. Mahoney has served as a member of the New York Stock Exchange’s Institutional Advisory Committee and Market Performance Committee. He also served on advisory committees for NASDAQ Stock Market, The Boston Stock Exchange and the Investment Company Institute. Mr. Mahoney is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross (BA) and New York University’s Stern School of Business (MBA). He is a CFA.
